Matthew is a professional engineer with almost three decades of experience in civil engineering. He is known for leading teams toward clear, practical solutions to complex technical challenges, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, constructability, and long-term maintainability.
Matt's goal is to build a firm that prioritizes professional growth and mentorship for project managers, engineers, designers, and future team members. His leadership reflects a commitment to both technical excellence and developing people.
A core personal and professional objective for Matt is delivering high-quality, high-profile projects that serve as lasting contributions to history, culture, and the communities they support.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and is active with the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), DC, NOVA and Baltimore Posts.
Meredith McComas, PE
President

Meredith brings nearly two decades of civil engineering experience, with a career largely focused on land development and infrastructure projects throughout suburban Virginia. As President of Sorba Engineering, she leads the firm in advancing its mission to deliver high-quality, client-focused civil engineering services.
While much of Sorba’s portfolio and staff expertise is centered on public works, Meredith’s extensive background and long-standing relationships in private land development. This strategically positions the firm to expand and balance its project mix. Her leadership emphasizes thoughtful alignment between clients, projects, and long-term business goals. It is this mindset that continues to drive Sorba’s sustained success.
In addition to guiding strategic direction, Meredith oversees all financial aspects of the firm, ensuring Sorba remains fiscally strong and well-positioned to pursue new opportunities and navigate emerging challenges.
Tim Geraghty, PE
Project Manager

Tim Geraghty brings more than 15 years of experience in the civil engineering industry, supported by a strong technical foundation in land surveying. Beginning his career as a surveyor provided him with a detailed, ground-level understanding of site conditions, regulatory requirements, and construction sequencing. This experience continues to inform his approach to civil engineering design.
Tim has extensive expertise in utility detailing and the modeling of wet utility systems, along with a strong working knowledge of construction methods and field practices. He applies this technical insight to complex design challenges, focusing on solutions that are practical, efficient, and constructible. His ability to anticipate construction impacts during the design phase helps streamline project delivery and reduce risk for clients and contractors alike.
Known for his collaborative approach, Tim brings a technical and analytical perspective to multidisciplinary project teams and thrives on solving project-specific challenges. He is committed to delivering designs that balance technical rigor with real-world application, ensuring long-term performance and maintainability.
Scott Miller, PE
Project Manager

Scott Miller brings more than a decade of experience working on federal civil engineering projects both across the DMV region and internationally. He manages a diverse range of project types. They range from small-scale redevelopments to large new developments, as well as conceptual studies through full construction implementation.
Scott’s technical expertise is rooted in stormwater management, particularly within Maryland’s regulatory framework, and advanced 3D grading. His strong project management skills have been a key asset on complex federal and embassy projects. Many of these are located overseas and require coordination across multidisciplinary teams and time zones.
Additionally, Scott has extensive experience working on the firm’s IDIQ contracts, successfully managing multiple task orders concurrently while maintaining quality, schedules, and compliance requirements.
